The principles of over 1400 purchasers shows over 1/2 buyers are using their smartphones to improve their shopping experience, particularly those under 35 (67%). IPhone owners aren't only comparison shopping on their smartphones, 41% are also making purchases on their telephone. “Given the robust growth in smartphone ownership, everybody is dependent on the in-store experience – from retailers to product makers – each must exploit opportunities these devices provide for generating sales and making improvements to the buyer experience,” asserts Jeff McKenna a senior consultant for Chadwick Martin Bailey. “Together with designs for packaging, displays, and signage, we'll see smartphone-based communication as a necessary part of retail planning.” .
